Well, I just realized I’ll be off to NYC in 10 days from now and I can’t believe it has only really hit me today. Maybe it’s because I’ve been so busy with other things going on or because typically other vacations I’ve been on are much further and maybe more grand. I mean, not to take anything away from New York but it’s only about an hour airplane ride so it hardly feels like a big get away haha. I’m going with my usual travel buddy (and bestest friend) Julia so I know that calls for a guaranteed amazing time but I haven’t been to NYC since 2012 and even that was for work. In total, I’ve been there 5 times and every time was a different experience so I don’t really know what to expect. The first time I ever went, it was absolutely the most random trip I’ve ever taken. A friend of mine at the time and I decided last minute and dragged our other friend with us for the ride, we had just come home from Orlando or Cuba (I actually can’t remember) and we had money left over and in our early 20s state of mind we thought we’d spend the rest of what we had. We hopped into the car and drove out there. It was fun, very low key… Definitely didn’t see new yorks potential. The second time I went was to go pick out a dress for my sisters wedding at Kleinfelds with 12 of the bridesmaids, all the sisters and moms (yes, we were that group) and the third time was to pick up the dress. Both of those times were amazing, I mean we actually did everything. We did all sight seeing, went to a few shows, went to the best restaurants and even had it in us to party at the trendiest bars. The fourth and fifth time I was in NYC was for work and luckily I had my friend Julia (who I’ll be going with again) fly out for both weekends to enjoy the city where I joined her when I wasn’t working. It was super fun, but again… Very different from my other experiences. Anywayyyyyy… Totally got carried away there haha the point of this post was to ask if anyone has any recommendations for restaurants or shows or “must sees” and “must do’s” because I would love to try different things while I’m out there. I know NYC is one of the coolest places to visit and I want to see all corners ! Looking forward to getting some tips and feedback xx
Have a safe trip with your best friend. I know NYC changes very rapidly, some of my family members who have lived there don’t like what its become.
Oh no!! That makes me nervous. I hope it isn’t dangerous, that’s what freaks me out. Thank you for the safe wishes π
From what I’m told the national climate is saccharine. It’s just the politics of the city that they despise.
If you haven’t tried it in the past get a shack burger from shake shack, and get baked by Melissa cupcakes (for me they blow magnolia and crumbs out of the water). Find the castle in Central Park and turtle pond. The Book of Mormon is supposed to be an excellent play. Wicked is the musical too see if you haven’t already. And have pickleback shots at Whiskey rebel!
Wow. Thanks so much!!! I will definitely add these to my list. Love me a good burger so I’ll try it out. I’ve never had magnolia but I’ve had crumbs.. I’ll have to give it a try. My favourite is sprinkles ! Excited for the Central Park suggestions too. I’ve seen wicked, we decided on aladdin! Thanks again π
Your welcome, shake shack is all over the place now, the original is on 23rd and Madison. And Aladdin is supposed to be excellent also. Have fun!
I’ve only been once and it was a whirlwind 2 1/2 day trip for my 40th birthday. We did a dinner cruise to see the Statue of Liberty which was nice, and I HAD to go to Tiffany’s jewelry store, which completely blew my mind……it’s 6 stories! Yes, 6! A jewelry store! So of course, I had to check that out. lol Because it was a short trip we didn’t get to do much but see the city via Limo, so I don’t have a lot of recommendations, but it was amazing for me! π Have a wonderful time and a safe trip! π
Ive been to Tiffany’s there! It’s gorgeous. I also did the Statue of Liberty things with my family … So fun. I hope to try smaller restaurants and things locals do more then touristy stuff. Thanks!! Can’t wait π xo
